Find App IDs

Apps sold in an app store must be uniquely identified by an app ID, also known as a package name. App IDs are one of the filter criteria in data service policies, and to ensure the correct apps are defined in filters, you must obtain the correct app IDs.

Find Google Play Store App IDs

  1. Use a web browser and go to the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store.
  2. Click the Apps tab.
  3. Find and select an app to go to the app description page. The URL for the app page contains the app ID in a key-value pair where the key is "id".
  4. Select and copy the entire value of the "id" key-value pair. That is the app ID.

This example shows the app ID for the CNN app as it appears in the Google Play Store URL: com.cnn.mobile.android.phone.
