Validation and Fixing Data Errors

When you enter certain types of data into Service Design Center, the software performs immediate validation of the data. This allows you to see that there has been invalid data entered and to fix the data immediately. The following table details where this data validation occurs and the validation criteria.

Location Data Type Data Validity
Subscriber Groups Phone Numbers U.S. phone numbers must contain only the digits 0 (zero) through 9 (nine) and must be exactly 10 digits long.
Network Groups SID A SID (system identification number) number must be an integer between 0 and 32767, inclusive.
Network Groups NID A NID (network interface device) number must be an integer between 0 and 65534, inclusive.
Network Groups SID/NID You can enter SID/NID combinations separated by the slash (/) character. If you enter only an SID, it means all NIDs. You can use wildcards for SIDs. For example, */345 means any SID.
Network Groups MCC An MCC (mobile country code) number must be a three-digit integer between 000 and 999, inclusive.
Network Groups MNC

An MNC (mobile network code) number must be a two- or three-digit integer between 00 and 999, inclusive.

When used in an MCC/MNC combination, a wildcard (*) is allowed in the MNC number. For example, 310/*9.

Network Groups MCC/MNC MCC numbers and MNC numbers must be entered as combinations, known as MCC/MNC tuples, separated by the slash (/) character, also called PLMNIDs.

As you enter data and it gets validated, a status message at the top of the dialog box provides a running total of how many entries were made successfully (were valid) and how many had issues (were invalid).

A list of MCC and MNC codes can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_country_code

Fixing Data Errors

When invalid data gets entered, Service Design Center displays two types of feedback:
